Cache Recap of the Overland Expo!

This summer was our first time attending any Overland Expo event, and we couldn’t be happier that we chose to show up and connect with the community at this year's PNW show in Redmond, Oregon. It was a long weekend full of great people, conversations and off-roading setups, and the perfect way for us to dive into this massive industry of aftermarket accessories for overlanding and off-roading builds.

Some people may wonder, why the Overland Expo? Don’t you make bike pads? While we have catered largely to the mountain biking audience, we firmly believe that our tailgate pad is MUCH more than just a “bike pad”. Our tailgate pad is the beginning of your adventure, the middle, and the end. It’s where you gear up, enjoy a snack or drink, and debrief at the end of the day. It’s the Basecamp built to move with you and adapt to your needs.

So that’s why we chose the Overland Expo. It was a perfect way for us to talk to the people actively seeking new ways to mod out their vehicle builds with the newest, most innovative products out there. This was the perfect place for us to get to the bottom of what truck owners are looking for and their vision for what the “tailgate” is and can be.

Our Time There

Over the three days of the show, our booth saw tons of new faces that were completely unfamiliar with our products, as well as returning customers that have bought pad after pad. We heard about people’s builds, what they’re looking for, and how our product line can come into play with the overlanding community.

It was refreshing to get to step out of the office and spend some time connecting with a real portion of our audience in the outdoors. This is where we learn the most about not only who we're serving, but also our product. There's nothing like watching people interact with our tailgate pad for the first time, seeing something completely new and being so intrigued by it. Then the questions to follow are the most important part.

One fun aspect to the event was that all companies attending are urged to create custom patches that can be handed out to people walking through the show. To celebrate the last Blockbuster location in Bend, Oregon, and pay tribute to our childhood, we created a custom Blockbuster themed Cache patch which we were handing out all weekend! Safe to say it was a big hit and a nice way to pay homage to a place we all knew and loved.

Overall, we couldn’t have been happier with the turnout and our time spent out at the Overland Expo. The community welcomed us with open arms, and we are excited to come back to another one of the Overland Expo events in a different region!
